Did you make a career-related New Year’s resolution? If so it is an odds-on shot that you intend to look for a new job in Ireland at some point in the near future.
So here is our four-step plan to help you on your way:
1. Get Yourself a Top-Class Professional CV
An obvious one, but a prerequisite nevertheless. Send your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like an impartial, honest and above all FREE review of your current résumé. You are under no obligation to proceed with a CV design by availing of a free CV review.
LinkedIn is likely to be the first website a recruiter refers to when researching you beyond consideration of your CV. You need an online presence to achieve your resolution, so make sure you’re well connected and your LinkedIn profile is up-to-date. In addition, LinkedIn’s excellent Jobs section must be explored if you are serious about achieving your goal. Check out our LinkedIn Profile Writing page if you need any assistance in creating a LinkedIn profile
3. Do the Simple Things
Make your online job search work for you by creating relevant job alerts. Also, don’t forget the importance of tapping up your social networks (both in real-life and cyberspace) for job leads.
4. Put Yourself Out There
Don’t just wait for the job to fall on your lap, make efforts to bring it to you. Speculative job applications have a higher rate of success than those submitted in response to an advertised vacancy. Identify who you would like to work for and approach them directly in a considered manner.
